Home and Family Society is a small not for profit social services agency based in Christchurch.
Our Manager left in April, and we started the process of advertising for a replacement. This only had limited success, and we were faced with the prospect of re-advertising. Whilst the Committee has a wide range of expertise and experience, this is primarily related to the running of the agency, and not recruitment. Accordingly, we approached a number of recruitment agencies to see if there was one that was prepared to assist or act on our behalf, at minimal cost.
We were therefore delighted that ODG confirmed that they would act for us and that our only costs would be for advertising. After an initial discussion about Home and Family and our requirements of a manager, it became evident that the staff had a clear understanding of what is involved in the management of an organisation such as ours, and the qualifications, skills set and personal qualities necessary for a manager.
ODG kept us fully informed during this process, had initial discussions with applicants and presented us with a short-list, and some initial views about suitability. They then arranged interviews and made their offices available to us to carry these out. We were able to offer the position to one candidate, who has now accepted the position. ODG also informed the unsuccessful candidates on our behalf.
We were impressed by ODG’s professionalism, their understanding of our needs, and their willingness to assist, throughout the recruitment process. Needless to say, we are very pleased with the outcome, which could not have been achieved without their involvement.
